As of 2023, the UGC NET eligibility criteria are as follows:
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed their Master’s degree or equivalent in the relevant subject from a recognized university.
Age Limit: There is no age limit for UGC NET.
Minimum Percentage: Candidates must have secured at least 55% marks (50% for OBC, PwD, and SC/ST candidates) in their Master’s degree or equivalent examination.
Attempts: There is no limit on the number of attempts for UGC NET.
Nationality: Candidates must be a citizen of India.
Relaxation for OBC, PwD, and SC/ST candidates: OBC, PwD, and SC/ST candidates are eligible for a relaxation of 5% in the minimum percentage required for their Master’s degree or equivalent examination.
JRF Eligibility: Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (50% for OBC, PwD, and SC/ST candidates) in their Master’s degree or equivalent examination and are below the age of 30 years are eligible for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
